I have a three panel comic strip in the Film Issue (March/April 2010) of The Believer. On the right (page 69), fourth from the top:

I know you can’t see it in the photo, but my comic is so stupid. I’ve never been good at one-off strip gags, and this one’s no different. The punchline goes, “…I liked Surf Ninjas?” I think I wrote a list of, like, twenty punch lines, and that was the best one I had. BUT THEY PUBLISHED IT ANYWAY! IN A FUCKING MAGAZINE FOR SUPER-LITERATE NERDS! HA HA HA
Here’s the online list of comic contributors, if you’re curious.

I had $100,000, and i went to the cutlery store and said I’d like to buy a knife. The clerk behind the counter said, Sorry, but money can’t buy knives. Maybe that’s why you never see any around…
can’t you scan it and make it bigger? I want to see it
I would just like to state, for the record, that when I read the title of this post, I IMMEDIATELY KNEW IT WAS ABOUT SURF NINJAS.
Haesue, every time Calvin and I talk about Surf Ninjas, I think of you. WE ENJOYED THIS MOVIE SO MUCH! I have a hi-res scan of the comic, but I think I’ll post it a little later (there’s nothing to anticipate, it really is stupid)
Vic, YOU’RE ONE OF US! High five, dude
As a super literate nerd, I was delighted to read your strip in The Believer. I thought the punchline was hilarious. Hilariously enough, as cinematically “enlightened” as I am…. I love Surf Ninjas. Haha, keep up the good work Hellen Jo, I’ve been a fan of your work for about, hm, three years now.
