a few things:
1. Some of the ol’ shit I drew is being published in a couple anthology-type books. Firstly, that creepy squirrel drawing I did is being published in Exactly, a children’s story anthology written by SF high school students, illustrated by nerds, and published by 826 Valencia. They even used the story icon drawing I did of a diamonded acorn in the book endpapers. NICE!

2. Secondly, that one comic where I take off my underpants is being published in the Friends of Lulu comic anthology, The Girls’ Guide to Guys’ Stuff. The book includes a special postcard I drew, which I will never put online, mainly due to laziness

3. Derek and I are going to be showing some aaaaaaaaaaahhhhht at this show in LA on Saturday. We’re even going to be there! I’ll be showing/selling mostly old shit (including the exorbitantly-priced original of this comic page) and some (very little) new shit. neat

hey what the I know exactly where that Giant Robot on Sawtelle is!!! okay, so if you go down Sawtelle some more (you’re on the road and if GR is on your left, then go straight ahead, if it’s on your right, back track)… anyway, you’ll see a plaza with a place called HURRY CURRY which is delicious, and across the street is another plaza and you have to look carefully for this hole-in-the-wall place nestled in between two other restaurants… they sell very very very good crepes (you’ll see the fake crepe display like the fake food displays in Japantown)… the guy who runs it/makes the crepes is a jackass, but the food is gooooood.
I am not interested in crepes, but that HURRY CURRY sounds intriguing. There used to be a short-lived CURRY IN HURRY (no “A”) in Berkeley in the cursed ex-Burger King restaurant and I loved it.
P.S. I found a place to stay so I won’t have to go sneaking into your dorm

oh man i am totally going to buy that 826 anthology! sweet!
and: oh man i totally remember curry in hurry! i went there… twice, i think? not the best curry in the world, but oh boy did it come in a hurry. (it also come out in a hurry, oh ho ho ho).
so many things to buy, and support my homey hellen.
also, it’s a good time to buy that 826 book because i read that they’re not doing so well financially (their distributor PGW went bankrupt last December) and will be holding a big sale soon to try to raise funds and stay afloat!
I love the squirrels! I have this one shelf in my apartment that is just for friends’ publications/mini-comics and mentions in media. With these books, Aquaria mentions in wired and some of alice’s stories pending publication, that thing is getting FULL. I wish I could check out the show in LA, but you promise to post pics later? yay
ps: i know you’re super busy and in LA, but we extended the Junji Ito gag manga contest until Sunday night :))) If you’re feeling frisky and wanna GO FOR IT!
