I just finished a watercolor illustration commissioned by Hannah B., based very closely on Alphons Maria Mucha’s Bières de la Meuse (though I was asked to make la Meuse Korean!), as well as several other source illustrations:

Aaaaaand here’s the line art (look at all dem lines, man):

And in the interest of full disclosure, here are the source illustrations that I copied, to Hannah’s specifications:

+ Alphons Maria Mucha - Bières de la Meuse (1897)

+ Beatrix Potter - Squirrel Nutkins

+ the March 1896 cover of The Black Cat magazine

+ Alexander Calder - Horse Tricks
I pulled the bird from my own brain folds.
I never feel very comfortable copying other artists’ works (though I have done it before) so I tend to avoid accepting such requests, but this commission sounded like it would turn out real pretty, and damn it, I wanted to draw and paint somethin’ reeeeeeal pretty. And don’t the little hose-beasts remind you of the Bremen Stadtmusikanten? It’s one of my favorite folk tales!
I can’t stop watching 2NE1’s newest video for Try To Follow Me. What, you didn’t know I got awful taste in music?
P.S. I started uploading stuff to my flickr, and I will probably upload future drawings there as well as here
Calvin & I have pulled out (HUH HUH HUH) of TCAF this year, cuz we dumb. DEAL WITH IT, CANADA
I got a formspring account at formspring.me/helllllen, where you can ask me or whomever any question anonymously. I even stuck a widget on the left side of this blog in case you find yourself dying to know my favorite fruit (oranges) or my height (5′4″). DEW IT!
